Fajita seasoning

Fajita seasoning is used in many Mexican dishes. No need to buy a premixed spice mix in the supermarket. The seasoning can surprisingly easy be homemade.

Amount: plenty

Ingredients

5 guajillo chile peppers
3 arból chile peppers
1 tbsp coriander seeds
1 tbsp paprika powder
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp black pepper corns
1/2 tsp Mexican oregano

Preparation

  • At first remove the stems and seeds from the chiles.
  • Then add the guajillo and arból chiles, together with coriander seeds and pepper corns to your blender. Blend for about 30 seconds until you have a fine powder.
  • At last add the remaining ingredients and mix well.

Notes

Fresh or whole dried spices taste significantly better. Grind them yourself in a mortar. Afterwards store the Fajita seasoning in a dry and airtight container, e.g. a glass jar.

Chile peppers can be bought in Mexican online shops.
