Welcome to Pop or FLOP
Ratings are necessary to better understand a sparkling wine.
I chose a simple POP or FLOP rating system. Anything I want to see again is a POP. Else it’s a FLOP. What ticks my boxes you can read find in the sparkling wine cellar.
Don’t take ratings too serious. A sparkling wine is good if it tastes no matter what rating it has received! Your taste is important but stay informed.

At this time the Lichti winery in Laumersheim has been a family business for generations. If you take your time, you get to know the people behind the product. Have a chat with them over a glass of German sparkling wine (Winzersekt) or wine. As a result you will find out that they put a lot of effort into producing high quality products.
The selection of sparkling wine is small, but fine. We are particularly fond of the house’s rosé sparkling wine. Find out more about the Fascination of rosé sparkling wine at the winery. Among normal grape varieties like Pinot Noir, unusual varieties, such as the Heroldrebe, are made to Winzersekt. The sparkling wines taste much more mature than they really are. They age for at least 9 months in the bottle. They are not disgorged all at once but in batches. You can follow the sparkling wine development over time.
Unfortunately, neither the year nor the disgorgement date is written on the bottle label. Personally, I think that’s a shame, because the content doesn’t have to hide.
Pinot Noir is a demanding grape variety. Like Riesling, it ripens only in the best locations. That means in detail fertile, warm and chalky soil with a good water supply, like the Pfalz.
Pinot Noir is one of the grapes used for the production of champagne. In Germany it is called Spätburgunder. It was indeed the most popular grape variety in the past. During the 17th century Riesling became the most popular grape.
Salmon pink with fine, long-lasting perlage.
Lichti, Pinot Rosé, trocken, dry, 2019 smells fruity and intense. You are in a good mood immediately.
Sparkling and unmistakable. Fresh, full-bodied, intense taste of strawberry and apricot. I did not notice any acidity.
POP or FLOP
A sparkling experience. For a young sparkling wine, the Lichti, Pinot Rosé, trocken, dry, 2019 tastes incredibly ripe, without losing its lightness. A sparkling wine for every occasion. Unbeatable in terms of price.
